Your Instructor

Peter Ribe (above), together with Einar Rasmussen, are the two Norwegian Flyak inventors.

Rasmussen (51), a five-time Canoeing World Champion and physicist, is the man behind the idea of putting a kayak on hydrofoils.

Ribe (41), a 1993 World Championship Bronze Medallist, has been the Flyak Project´s "Test Pilot".

In Germany in 2005, Ribe completed a 1000 meter Flyak race in 2 minutes 57 seconds (Average speed of 20.1 kph).

Ribe´s main goal, training wise, for 2008 is to beat the rowing eight in a race.

To succede in this "David vs. Eight Goliaths" race, Ribe must average a speed of about 22.5 kph.

(For comparison; the Olympic 1000 meter Champion, Eirik Verås Larsen (NOR), averaged a speed of about 17.4 kph winning his 2004 Gold Medal.)

Important!

Clinic attendants (and Flyak customers) should be able to master a competition kayak. In hydrofoil kayaking, the relationship between weight and fitness level is very important. Please use this table as a quick guide to whether you should attend the clinic or not:

Your weight:		Your time on 500 meter:
85-95 kgs		Under 1 minute 50 seconds
75-85 kgs		Under 1 minute 55 seconds
65-75 kgs		Under 2 minutes
55-65 kgs		Under 2 minutes 10 seconds

Learn to "Fly" in Portugal

Clinics are € 300

€ 300 includes 12 hours of instruction + food and accommodation. Flight (travel) to Portugal NOT included.

Foil Clinic Special

All Flyak customers are getting the Clinic for FREE (But you still have to Sign Up using the the form on the left).

If you just want the Clinic, no problem. You are still entitled to be reimbursed the Clinic fee of € 300 if you decide to buy a Flyak at at later date.

The Training Center is situated on the beautiful Douro River, and provides perfect conditions for (hydrofoil) kayaking.

Clinic Programme

You will be picked up at Porto Intl. Airport on Thursday night and taken to the hotel. The Clinic will start at 9am Friday morning.

Your instructor, Peter, will teach you the basics of hydrofoil kayaking using a 5-step programme.

Clinics are from 9am-12am and 2pm-5pm both Friday and Saturday.

Saturday evening there will be a dinner in the beautiful city of Porto.

On Sunday you will be taken to the airport - hopefully as a fully licensed Flyak Pilot...
